Be trendy... without being trendy
What are the latest trends? I’ll be honest, that’s a question I get asked often.
Clients are often curious about the freshest colors, styles, etc. and I get it! They want to be in style, but not so trendy they’re needing to redecorate once the next big trend hits.
So whether it’s the newest paint shade, curved or traditional furniture, favorite fabric, or wallpaper, I tend to stick to a fairly classic and neutral base and then layer in all the textural, fun and trending details on top of that.
Personal Details
Here’s what I believe. Personal and unique details are always on trend. I am currently in the process of collecting artwork for my home and have decided that when it comes to artwork displayed, as long as the spirit and personality of my family shines through in whatever is displayed, that is timeless.
My latest project is to find artwork for the movie room, or “The Cinema” as my niece loves to call it. Though nearly every room in our home is painted a soft white, I chose to do color-drenched rooms in the warmest blue for both the cinema and lounge. The result, a suede-like finish that is the most perfect foundation for the 80s laser disk collection found at a local salvage yard.
Personal and unique details are always on trend.
Every time I see this 80s laser disk collection, I think of the day trip with my 19-year-old son to explore San Francisco Bay Area thrift shops and salvage yards.
2. Outside/Inside
Connect interior and exterior living spaces for a calming effect
Why not bring your garden inside? I don’t know about you, but I love being surrounded by my plants. They calm me even as I care for them, making sure they are healthy and thriving.
